This year marks the tenth anniversary of China's "Belt and Road" initiative, aimed at connecting land corridors and expanding trade, with China significantly investing in the construction of international railways across Asia. On May 9th, local time, CNBC, under the title "These maps show the extent of China's cargo railways across Asia," reviewed and illustrated China's cross-border cargo train routes in Asia and Europe, suggesting, "This gives us a glimpse into how China's 'Belt and Road' ambitions are being realized."

The report first introduced the China-Laos railway, highlighting that as of April this year, China's national railway has opened online booking for a 10.5-hour train journey from Yunnan to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. This route will eventually connect to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, and Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.

Beyond Southeast Asia, the report mentioned, "In the north, China last year opened a railway bridge connecting Heilongjiang province with Russia," and mapped out the railway route from Beijing through Manzhouli in Northern China to Moscow, Russia.

Based on official Chinese reports and media coverage, CNBC illustrated the under-construction China-Mongolia railway route, as well as the completed routes extending from cities like Xi'an and Nanning to Central and South Asia.

The report noted that the "Belt and Road" initiative, through its plans for rail and maritime routes from Asia to Africa and Europe, demonstrates China's efforts to enhance its global influence through transportation links. Economically, trade with countries along the "Belt and Road" now accounts for about one-third of China's total import and export volume.
